the side issues of long oil change intervals. In my case, the dealer knows I come in for the oil change every 5K, so instead of telling me I'm almost due, he could easily have told me I would probably need to be doing rear brakes by the next change.

I know brakes are an easy sell and the dealer's need to make money, especially these days. And 95% of his customers would never know the difference. The issue to me is honesty. My indy tells me I need something well before it's due, and will also tell me about how long I have before I need to do whatever it is. Big difference!
