If you have lost your only key, AND the car alarm immobilizer is engaged, they are correct. The anti-theft system (the TWICE module) will only respond to an unlock command from a key that is "married" to the car.
OTOH, if you can open the doors, trunk, etc, & get in and out of the car without the alarm going off, AND the alarm has not immobilized the car, you may, MAY be able to get away with simply a new key and remote, and a programming session with a mechanic.
Also, it is good advice to keep as many spare keys programmed to the car (max of 4) as possible. That way, you have to lose them all before being locked out of the car, and facing a $2,000 repair.
