I forget the link, but there's a site where you can see what different domains have sold for. I found it by Googling, so you can do the same. This can give you sense of a ballpark figure. Remember, the whole process is a negotiation so pick a starting point and work from there. Domain sale prices are all over the place and averages are meaningless. It really comes down to the name being worth X dollars to the buyer based on how they want to use the name.

In my case the buyer worked through a lawyer who negotiated the whole deal with me. It went very smoothly and as I had several email addresses under the domain I worked it that those would be forwarded for 6 months after the sale to cover anyone who didn't get my notice that my address had changed.

What you do need to be sure of is that the buyer is not going to use the domain (which people have associated with you) to do something illegal or nasty. I had that written into the sales agreement, and I also checked out the law firm, which turned out to be a big reputable firm.
