Beautiful place, no poverty problem like the Carribean islands, no locals harrasing you anywhere (as you unfortunately find in the Carribean). Few places like it in the world. Locals are very friendly to all. May to early November is the warm season. Stay outside the city, hotel or B&B, whatever. Rent a scooter. Nicely still formal in season in the upscale hotels/resturants.
My favorite "demonstrate" Bermuda story: Went there with the wife and young kid so the scooter was not an option. Decided to use the much touted local bus service (very good, small buses). One morning we got on the bus and it made a stop. A local woman got on and said "Good Morning" as she stepped in. No one said anything...I'm from the USA, that's normal. She stops in her tracks and says indignantly "I said GOOD MORNING". Immediately every local on the bus greeted her from the bus driver on down and apologized for their rudeness in not responding the first time.
