I completely agree with yoeddy's advice. Recently, my wife's 2002 9-5 Arc Wagon came out of CPO warranty and we had some issues with coolant loss since we bought the car in December of 2006. It was back and forth to the dealer about 3 or 4 times for this issue so they replaced the heater bypass valve and a thermostat. The car still continued to lose coolant and then warranty expired. We brought it back to the dealer and they said "Oh, must've been some air in the lines and everything settled. We'll top you off and you'll be good to go." Well, we were consistently losing a quart every couple hundred miles and at this point they wanted to charge for it. I told them that this was a pre-existing problem while under warranty...etc...etc...etc. Talked to SAAB USA and started a "case" with them. We had to bring the car in for a diagnostic and figure out the issue then they would figure out if they would help with good faith and whatnot. I was kind of hesitant because they had to do a tear down to figure it out. Well, said and done it was the oil cooler (can't believe they never checked that) so we got that replaced and as a preventative measure, they essentially replaced ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that has to do with coolant. New head gaskets, lines, hoses, seals, cooler, thermostat...you name it. They had the car for 2 weeks said and done and our final bill was $0.00. I called the rep that I dealt with, got her name and her manager's name...sent them a gift basket as a token of my appreciation. In return, I got a $200 gift certificate to anything SAAB related. A calm attitude and a friendly voice goes a LONG way!
