stick welders are cheap but they generate a lot of heat, which will melt carpet, rustproofing, and anything else in the area. you may want to look into whats called a TIG welder i think, but they are expensive and take more skill i think. have never used one. if youre going to be doing structural stuff, i hope you get lots of practice. when you first start welding, a weld may look good but will break easily cause you really dont know a good weld when you see one.
