Life isn't that simple, in the car business or anywhere else. Rebadging for SAAB has included improvements or at least changes. The late unlamented 9-1 and 9-7 were not identical to their Subaru and GMC parents.

A SAAB/Lancia probably would have recalibrated software and cam timing to provide mid-range punch instead of only getting interesting as you approach the red line.

Who knows, perhaps Lancias eventually will show-up in Chrysler showrooms.
