And as everybody says, pulling the fuse while the car is idling works fine. You won't get any fuel dripping from the lines themselves, but there is a surprising amount of gas in the filter that can go a long way if you're not careful (ask me how I know...). I would slightly loosen the banjo bolts at each end so you're not applying maximum force while fuel is dripping on you. Then as you loosen one end such that fuel starts dripping out, tilt the filter to get most of the fuel out and catch it an a handy container. Unless your other half thinks the smell of gasoline is an aphrodisiac.
