I threw away a Nikon EM years ago much to my regret. Was it valuable? Maybe worth $50 at the time. Either way, I should have kept it for a beater camera.
I wouldn't pitch the FM because, much like vinyl records, people may rediscover film cameras in the future and a fully-manual Nikon is one of those cameras people need to use to learn how to actually compose and take a quality photograph using the lens and available light, etc. Plus, in many cases, the lenses are worth more than the bodies (e.g., a Nikkor 50 mm / 1.4 lens).
I have a Nikon FM-2 from 1985 with a 35-105 Nikkor and the combination today might bring me $300-$400 if I'm lucky. They've been around the world with me and nothing digital I've used so far can equal my experiences with it.
My other camera 'debris' = a Nikon Action Touch from 1987 (very nice optics), three working Canon APS Elphs and a couple of cannibalized Elph 370Zs for parts!(OK -- I still like APS film -- I know, I'm a dinosaur...), a Sears 35mm body from my father (think it was made by Pentax), and a Bell & Howell movie camera from the 50s, plus assorted lenses.
