Yeah, I think we did fine. You and I were among the faster guys in our run group. The 540 was about the same as me down the straights but slower in the corners and would never give me a pass-by. The RX-7 was very good in the corners, had a bit more oomph on the straights. I think you and he were the only guys I gave a pass-by to. The rest were just part of the train. So our Saabs did well at NHMS. And I had no one give me any grief about showing up with a Saab. My instructor was surprised how good a fat old Saab could go, and liked the a faster, tighter line I could take going up the hill in turn four (than some of the other cars) because of FWD and the power. But a LSD would have made it better! 8-)
I had ordinary Axis Ceramic pads that did OK and never faded, but I should have put in ATE or Motil Blue brake fluid as after the last run I must have boiled the fluid as my brakes are kinda spongy now. I don't think there aren't any good track pads for the 9K, but I'm told Hawk pads for an E30 M3 will fit if I grind the edges of the backing plate. If I can do that I'll swap them out for the next track day, maybe with a separate set of rotors. And some better fluid.
If you were hitting 100 on the front straight it would have been interesting if we were on it together. By the 4th session I was braking for turn one a bit before the "1" sign on the fence at maybe 92 mph. You were right behind me a few times but I never had you right in front of me. Maybe next time.
I hope to do the one in October, so let's stay in touch separate from TSN.
