My brake fluid boiled over a little as well. I'm told that's not unusual, and so long as you aren't getting fade, you're doing ok. The boiling can cause air bubbles, though, which is why your brakes are spongy today. Just flush out your fluid and do it again.
I'm on the fence with the Hawk pads. My stock Viggen pads had a lot better bite in everyday driving, and I'm thinking about swapping those back in. But I don't know how they would have held up on the track.
