even though I've autocrossed, the advanced skills school (Saturday) was the introduction to a higher level of skill. The track day, though, was a whole new dimension. As you know, the track is a different planet than an autocross parking lot.
My regular brakes (Axxis Ceramics) were fine, with no fade, but my fluid boiled a bit the last time out so I have to bleed. Knew I should have put in some beefier fluid. (Sigh.) A track pad would slow me down better after it warmed up, and I'd like a little more bite, but the stock pads do the job at NHMS. Then again, a friend in North Carolina who regularly tracks his Evo at VIR changes to track rotors and pads before the event, and back when he's done. I found my standard Brembo rotors are fine with no warping (a cool down lap with minimal braking is required to help avoid rotor warp.) Saabs do have great brakes!
I do wonder about more camber on the street, especially for tire wear, and my local alignment guy isn't likely to give me any special deals on pre and post track day alignments, so I may have to see what I can work out on that. Stock may have to do for now!
