We are having new floors installed on MOnday, and this weekend's project for me was to remove the old sheet vinyl and underlayment in preparation for the installers. I went to Harbor Freight thrusday night and bought a Floor Scraper (a hybrid of a winter sidewalk ice scraper and a roofer's demolition shovel), and an imitation Stanley Wonder Bar, which would be better for this job than my other implements of destruction.
I arrived home yesterday to discover that my lovely wife (at 5'-2" and 120 lbs dripping wet) had removed the entire 30 sq yards of flooring while I was at work! I guess those special tools worked pretty well!
I so get to spend one less day doing prep work. Still re-anchored the sub-floor using my collated screwdriver at 9-inch centers (boy, is the floor quiet now!) and shortened all door casings in preparation for the thicker floor.
I'd love to be able to describe how well these tools work, but this would have to come from my wife.
