The cash came from our taxes. The $4,500 must have cost the government, what, $6,000? $8,000? $10,000 to collect?????
Now, this is actually a tax refund, thus, a tacit admission that tax refunds or reduction of taxes work. Everyone should know that. It worked for President Kennedy.
So, the tax refund went to purchase cars many of which of the dollars went to Government Motors. Excluding the facts that dealers had 40 to 50 pages of documents to correctly complete and that the government computers kept crashing as dealers tried to enter the information, how can this program of free money be called a success? Giving free money away is only slightly more successful than a free day at a European brothel.
It's gonna have more participants than expected.
This isn't a political discussion, but why couldn't they have simply given us a tax refund and reduce our tax rates. It's proven time-and-again that lower tax rates means more tax revenues. What an inefficient boondoggle.
Heck, if this was such a good program, why not have a cash for appliances or some other deal?
