It's ok for light surfing. It's the Linux model, so it's a little quirky if you're used to Windows. If you're not a techie, I highly recommend one with Windows as Linux is almost as labor intensive/cryptic as DOS. Also, you'd need something like WINE (free) to run Windows apps.
That being said, it's NOT something for long-term use. The screen is small, which can make reading/seeing some things a pain. NOT something you can do any major typing with as the keyboard is cramped. You get used to it after a few minutes of typing, but it does get uncomfortable after awhile.
For casual, on-the-go surfing or computing it can't be beat though.
It's good for traveling and checking your email and such, but definitely NOT something you want to use as your primary computer/laptop.
Mine has an SSD which makes it very reliable, but storage is very limited. You can get them with standard drives. I have seen up to 120GB. If you just will be using it for surfing/checking email, etc. you really don't need all the storage as you can use usb drives or SD cards for storage of files if you need to.
You will also need an external cd or dvd drive if you plan on installing any vendor software (I would also get a hard drive model if that's the case).
I love mine for its portability, and the only thing I would give mine up for is maybe a 10 inch one with Windows. I doubt if I would get one with a HD though as I have no use for all the storage for what I do with it, and it does get banged around a little, so the SSD can take it better.
