I recently purchased the Lenovo Netbook S10 (the older model, new is the S10-2) for ~$350. It has 10.2" monitor, 1 Gb of RAM and a 160 GB HD running Windows XP with a 6 cell battery pack (battery last around 5 hrs).

I really like the build quality of the Lenovo as well as the form, it's more purposeful/business looking versus others that are more sculpted. Drawbacks of the Lenovo S10 compared to competitors are the keyboard is a little different with a small right shift key, and it has only 2 USB ports but has a .

I had looked at numerous Netbooks including the Asus EEE, Acer, HP, Dell, etc. They are all pretty similar but I preferred the build quality of the Lenovo (have used 2 IBM/Lenovo's and like their feel and quality) Generally, there are many things I like about the Netbooks but also some drawbacks. As others mentioned, its very light especially w/out the battery, its reasonable quick, very easy to use, does everything I need it to do (surf, e-mail, light word processing/spreadsheet - using Open Office), and it has a built in camera. The drawbacks are smaller screen size, smaller keyboard, no optical (CD/DVD) drive, fan noise, and slower compared to full size laptops around the same price.

Hope this helps, if you want the portability and use it for the majority of the time for surfing, e-mail and other light task a Netbook is a great option.

Wil
