At Bradley Airport near Hartford, the TSA will direct you to a specific line. So, if you are travelling with kids, they'll put you in the "family" lines. If you are a single traveler in a business suit and a laptop, they'll put you in the "business" lines and so forth. That way families can take the time needed to deal with the kids and strollers and the business traveller can whip through security. Plus, they can manage the lines so that the line nearest the check in counters don't fill up and leave the lines farther away relatively under used. It works great and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes going through security. And yes, it is a regional airport, not JFK or Logan, so less travelers, I guess helps. I always fly through Bradley or TF Green near Providence if I can help it.
