i'm in the market for one and have been doing a little research. i am ok with spending between $150 and $350 based on what i have seen so far.
i am not a runner (knees and shins...) but like to use various cardio equipment (elliptical, rower, etc) and also bike and hike. i also do regular strength training on my bowflex.
i want something that can help me monitor my performance and give me goals/targets to work towards. i would like software and ability to have the device download data for interpretation and analysis.
i am currently leaning towards the polar F55 - seems to be for those doing strength and cardio however some reviews indicate the exercises are fixed and can not be tweaked for personal preference. also claims that the software is not great and is online instead of downloaded to the computer.
however i also like the suunto t6. but this one does not seem to favor the start and stop weight lifting exercise functionality.
can anyone offer input on what they like/dislike for these two and potentially others (chest band comfort, battery replacement, etc).
overall, i am looking to get back into shape and focus more on overall fitness. this will be a good start to help me along the way (plus i am a gadget guy and this is the 1st way to get me interesting in pursuing something long term).
any suggestions are welcome.
thanks in advance.
