we talk about GM + badge engineering here, well in appliances, there's even more of it. Sears doesn't make appliances, they stick a Kenmore badge on Inglis washing machine, or whatever. Our fridge is a bottom freezer style by Amana. For $50 more we could have had exactly the same fridge made by Amana with a Maytag badge. For $300 more than that, we could have had exactly the same fridge with a smooth skin exterior instead of bumpy + nicer handles + Kitchen Aid badge. BTW, the fridge has been flawless so far.
My point is most of the mass market stuff is pretty similar.
My experience with GE is that it is terrible reliability, so I avoid them.
We have a Miele dishwasher with 3 racks + it is brilliant, but expensive. Would have got Bosch, but this is even better + should last longer (some epinions reviews had issues with Bosch control panel failures, though friends with Bosch have no problems + very happy). Our washer/dryer are Bosch, and outstanding.
