I really like covers that are made from Noah fabric. They are soft on the car but excellent at keeping the elements off. I've never had an issue with a car getting scratched from debris getting trapped under it. However, I've had issues with it getting scratched from the neighbor's cat climbing on the car when I didn't have the cover on.
I've got one of my cars in one of those "portable garages". If you don't mind having a permanently-installed tent in the yard, go ahead and get one of those. It's a good idea to also lay a tarp down on the ground inside it if you get a lot of rain. They can get pretty hot inside and if the ground is wet, your car will get a steam bath. Ventilation in them are terrible, but many manufacturers sell vent kits for them--good idea. I often had condensation dripping from the ceiling of mine before i installed the vent kit. Also get the roll-up door system.
