Hey Dan
I've got a fitted Noah cover from California covers for my viggen, and use that when I don't have a garage available. It does a great job of keeping sap, sticks, acorns, etc from damaging the paint, though it can be a pain to use on a regular basis (say if you were to need to drive/recover the car more than a couple times a week). It wasn't cheap (around $250 if I recall), but it's still holding up great after 3+ years of moderate use.
I also have a Shelter Logic single bay 'garage,' that I picked up 2 years ago for about $400. It uses a tubular steel frame and has no trouble supporting a foot of heavy snow, though I try to knock it off before it gets that bad. If you have an out-of-site place to put one, I can't recommend them enough - I've got my 85 900, riding mower, winter tires, and patio set under mind with enough room to move around the car. Not sure if I'd put one right in plain sight though, as they're a bit unsightly.
Good luck
Chris in CT
