Recently my Memere ( grandmother) was put into an assisted living home. My family offered for me to live in her condo that she owns, as I am in school, and paying of tons of student loans. The building consists of mostly elderly people. There are a few other young people in the building but most of them live on the basement level. The day after I moved in one of the older women told me I was not allowed to back into my parking spot. I thought she was kidding, then she said all the people in the building had been talking about me and how I am backing in....( apparently the exaust gets pumped into peoples windows when I/or anyone backs in) Ridiculous.
So today I get a call from my uncle. There have been many noise/ other various complaints about me to the management. They inturn called him as his name is on their information. They complained that; I have multiple people living with me, I play loud music, I speed through the parking lot ( 15mph is much to fast...), oh, and that I have been stealing decorations.
Now I knew moving in that the residents were going to fussy, as many elderly people are, but all of what they have told managment is a lie. I come home late at night, wake up early, never play music, have only a few 3-4 people over at a time, and I cant even believe they think I am stealing decorations!!
I am going to write a letter to the managment company responding to the complaints, as they are uncalled for and I feel that I am being singled out because I am the youngest person (24) that lives above the basement floor. Is there anything I can do in this situation other than just suck it up, be extra careful not to step on any toes?? Its a non-smoking building yet many, many of the tenants smoke, which fills the hallways, this is not only gross but dangerous as many of the residence are on oxygen. I should also note that the building isnt for people of a certain age group, but it just so happens most/98% of the residents are elderly.
I am moving out as soon as I finish the bathroom and kitchen renovations. I am very grateful to my family for letting me live there, but they will be angry with me if these acusations keep rolling in... What should I do other than write a letter addressing the issues?
-Thanks sorry for the long rant,
Bcharliek
