Saab dealership strategy -- I wonder

I am struck by the number of dealer cancellations. There is a certain logic to creating a network of fewer, larger dealerships -- we did it in the earthmoving and const equip industry. However, it seems Saab is killing some of its best dealers, and leaving holes in some important geographic areas.
Makes me wonder about the strategy -- what could be the plan? One thought would be to replace GM dealers with independents, or perhaps try to attach to dealers for other European cars. I can think of a couple of such dealers here in central IL. Problem is that neither has the reputation for service that the existing dealer has, or the track record with Saab.
As somebody noted, the apparent slash-and-burn with some key current dealers and territories would appear to be suicide for Saab in North America.
I have scanned the choices for cars in the last couple of days, and see few that I'd want in place of the Saab. I am hoping that Saab will reverse some of these decisions or that management has some master plan that we'll all like once it's announced. Unfortunately, likelihood of either scenario seems a negative number at this point. Does anybody know what's going on?
Does anyone at Saab in Sweden pay attention to this website?
