but i've been noticing this for a long long time. it wouldn't surprise me to see the auto manufacturers discontinue them and make them an option!

unfortunately it's not just on the freeways but also in city driving. as anders says, it is really frustrating at intersections when you end up missing a light because they're trying to turn without indicating and you could have gone around them.

on the freeway it's getting really bad with people cutting in in a 1/2 car length space because it will get them somewhere faster, and not giving you any clue they're about to do it as you're coming up alongside.

if there is a half mile of clear road around me on freeway i don't bother, but other than that i do use them 85% of the time. my one excuse is my turn signal stays on in the left position and doesn't stay on in the right. once i fix the steering column and replace the switch though i'll be back to good habits.

i'm sure inattention and lack of awareness of others around certainly counts for a lot of the lack of use as well. sadly i don't think it's going to get better, and we can only do our part to be safe and courteous drivers and maybe others will notice and copy!
