I would not expect the fit & finish to be the same on a car that is $39K versus one that is $85K (or even $60K as the 550 is). I never said the "luxury" is the same, I just said the performance was impressive in comparison especially considering the price difference.
I'll admit that I haven't in person compared the G8 GXP or the new M5, but that does not mean that the Pontiac has poor fit or finish, or that the BMW has such superior fit & finish that the price difference is really in the car. Remember the G8 is a re-badged Holden and did not come out of the same design studios that gave us the G6.
And the CTS has made Car & Drivers 10 Best for a couple of years now.
