I don't want to accidentally put words in someone's mouth (I'm having trouble finding the reference now, the interview may not have been on SU)... I know it was not Spyker or Merbanco.
I understand most bidders want to use the existing business plan + want to focus on that. The question (which came out when the liquidator was announced) was something to the effect of "if SAAB cannot be sold with the NG9-5, are you still interested in buying SAAB" and my recollection was the answer was "yes, but we would like to get the 9-5".
As I read V.M.'s comment on SU, it does not necessarily say that they would not buy SAAB without the 9-5... it just focuses on the current plan. Saying otherwise could hurt their bargaining power. Perhaps no 9-5 would be the end of the road for them though + perhaps he does mean that. The way it is worded, I don't know.
Obviously a SAAB without the 9-5 is worth a lot less and would require a different plan (hence "Plan B"), which may or may not be of interest to various parties. It certainly wouldn't be as good for employment in Trollhattan as the existing Koenigsegg plan (never mind the higher risk of failure).
All that said, GM now quasi-denies the story re 9-5 tooling movement from Germany, so if Swade's sources were wrong (Swade assures otherwise but who knows), then maybe I am jumping the gun on the "Plan B" comments... I hope GM sells SAAB intact, but I'm not overly optimistic!
