The ultimate cross over. A great car for those who want a small piece of practical with their performance.
The 2 and 3-door market in the US is very small. Although if someone designed it right, without having to spend big money on a Porsche, it might have a chance. Saab was the perfect candidate to re-style the sonnet and a 3-door 9-5.
And so here we are with very little appeal in the coupe market and not much to choose from without compromising on something... performance or utility. Eventually you start thinking the Honda coupe looks good before coming to your senses. Because a car needs to speak to you in more ways than looks. And if an AWD turbo coupe were hooked up to a 6 speed manual or a real SMG trans, there would certainly be some interest... if it could be done right. The technology was there for Saab to have done this sooner. Volvo, Audi, Beamer all had theirs, but for some reason there was no decision to pursue it.
Good article, but it was difficult to see Saab referred to in the past tense.
