Legoland is actually in Denmark Posted by RonD [Email] (#2620) [Profile/Gallery] (more from RonD) on Mon, 8 Feb 2010 10:42:52 In Reply to: Re: Trip planning to Sweden for vacation, NJWayne, Mon, 8 Feb 2010 08:24:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
at Billund on the Danish peninsula. We've been twice, thought it was great fun for kids, no so much for adults.
What to see depends on how you're traveling. A car gives you greatest flexibility but rental (and gas!) prices can be high. The last time we were there we found that in-country air fares were quite reasonable and saved a lot of time getting from southern Sweden to Stockholm.
In Stockholm, the Vasa is great but we also like Skansen, an open-air museum nearby where they're relocated typical houses from around Sweden. Gamla stan, the old town, is also fun, as is a boat tour around the archipelago.
As mentioned, the glass country around Vaxjo is a great place to watch and buy.
Although remote, getting north of the Arctic circle in summer is magical.
If you get to Copenhagen, do go to Tivoli. Also worth a trip is the Viking ship museum in Roskilde.
Be sure to try the herring at breakfast, and have some reindeer.
