Blanket statements like that are not justified. (I don't get offended because you probably don't know people who work there). I used to work there and many other intelligent people work there still. When I was project manager of Saturn.com, I saw how there weren't enough people to handle all these tasks. There are always other fish to fry and many of them are bigger or more urgent. I blame it on corporate mentality of reducing headcount to please shareholders without regard for important work that has to get done. Similarly, I believe the lack of engineers is partially responsible for Toyota's throttle debacle. Not enough people to do FMEA's, validation, test result analysis... Who knows exactly, but the ball was dropped.
