Like I said, pickups are USEFUL. And YOU have the right idea. A nice everyday car, fun and economical, and a modest pickup truck for when you NEED it. My uncle has the same arrangement. A nice A6 for business and an older Silverado 2500 for plowing and hauling and stuff. In my opinion though, to go out and buy a big shiny fancy pickup truck for your primary vehicle (as a statement of your "masculinity") when you really only NEED a pickup once or twice every so often, is silly. I don't find them particularly comfortable or fun to drive, they get sucky mileage, and the bed is always exposed to weather and people who will steal your stuff!
