to some extent, there are tradeoffs between performance + wear when it comes to tires. Not saying your Nexens necessarily are any good performance (I know nothing about Nexen tires), but I've mostly run out a set of Nokian summer tires after 17k miles, and imho, they have been outstanding. Best summer tires I've ever used + would definitely buy again (even though they are not cheap either)... But I don't place that high a value on treadlife, as I put on a moderately low number of miles a year, mostly "spirited" driving. I once knew a (wealthy) guy from Germany who changed the tires on his Golf every 6 months! That is a bit crazy to me... whereas for much of the Toyota/minivan driving public, treadlife is *everything* + many all season tires tend to be optimized for that (+ cost) + generally suck for everything else...
definitely go for real summers where you have real winter tires. makes a big difference. imho most all seasons are good in no seasons.
