I had an Aunt with some form of dementia who was well into her 80s and her car looked like a demo derby. She was lucky she didn't kill someone, and finally her kids took the keys away. It did not go well.
I've known people in their 60s that should not be driving and others in their late 90s that were doing fine. It all depends! I think there are a variety of ways to 'test' questionable drivers. Both voluntary and otherwise. It takes some of the heat off of the kids. Check with your driver testing agency.
