5-6 months isn't a worry. I've had reason to store my car that long several times without a problem, and of course a lot of people up north do it yearly. There won't be chunks of rust falling off your cylinder walls :)
You can re-use spark plugs, and feel free to put a squirt of oil in the cylinders (I wouldn't use WD-40 myself since it's mostly a solvent and pretty thin stuff) and I actually do crank it over with the fuel pump fuse pulled and spark dissconnected to build up oil pressure (make sure your battery is charged if you do this though) but honestly, you won't have a problem or cause any damage.
