I'm of 2 different minds on that.
I want it to be a hatchback. That's why we bought our first Saab back in 1989, BECAUSE of the hatch. Not because it was a Saab, because we weren't (yet) Saab freaks. So now we just bought a 2009 9.3 IN SPITE OF the fact it's not a hatch.
But the other side of me...
I'm afraid of it NOT being successful. USA car buyers have never gone for large hatchbacks. I'd buy one. But few others (well, not zillions, anyway). Look at the Ford Scorpio. Remember that large hatchback? No? See what I mean? It's even true to some extent for wagons. What happened to the Accord wagon? Low sales. What happened to the Mazda 626 wagon or hatchbacks? Same thing? I'd love for a 9.3 hatchback, but I'd rather have Saab survive, if that's the choice.
