I have a 2003 Focus ZX3 5spd. I bought it as a commuter before my commute got way shorter. Didnt want to put all those miles on my Viggen vert. I bought it in 2006 with 22k miles on it and it hasnt asked for anything other than oil changes, tires and brakes. It now has 102k miles and still runs great. The 2.0 Zetec engine is very reliable, although they did swith to the Duratec engine in 05-06. Top speed is 110mph and unless you upgrade the suspension it feels squirelly at about 90. It has really turned out to be a fun little car. Put some decent tires on it and it handles really well and is fun to toss around in everyday driving.
The radios have been known to crap out and currently mine wont pick up any radio stations fm or am. So once the cd player quits I will put in a different one. Manuals also had an issue with the slave cylinder leaking but that was a simple upgrade to a different seal.
While it wont haul as much as my old '83 900T, with the seats down it will handle decent payloads.
