- I am in my mid-60s and can be considered a "refugee" from horiffic
Detroit produced vehicles (i.e. 6 transmissions in a Chrysler mini-van
in 70,000 miles - thank you no, UAW!)
- BA and MBA in business
- Live in northern NJ about 7 miles west of Manhattan
- Married and two adult children, one of whom has inherited the Saab
obsession from me (see 1990 900s collision discussion below).
- Politically fairly conservative and distressed over the current state
of affairs in our local, state (Christie you have really inherited a
total financial mess)and federal governments
- 1994 purchased first Saab, a 1990 900S for our son to use in college
- 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee impacted the 1990 900S head on at 30 mph. Son
opened the Saab's door and walked away unscathed. I guess that your
could say that we then became enamored by Saab's safty engineering
(and overjoyed that our son was uninjured).
- 1995 visited Trollhattan and pick up a 1995 900SE; proceeded to drive
all over Europe for 3 weeks; greatest vacation experience ever
- Have owned the 1995 900SE; 2000 9-5 9 (since sold to son); 2004 9-5;
1997 9000CSE (RIP); 1994 9000CSE (since sold to son); 1994 9000 Aero
(my "baby" w/Maptun Stage 3); 1991 9000 (awaiting repairs and insurance
settlement) from being rear ended last week; and waiting for a 1993
9000Aero to be put up for sale by a local owner.
- Have attended a number of Saab Owner's Conventions, and Saab owners are
fascinating, highly educated and technically knowledgable folks, along
with plain old fun to be with.
- Saab's overall design, engine philosophy of small engines with
turbocharging, incredable seat design, hatchback utility, and winter
performance are what has resulted in my allegiance to this brand.
