Have performed all maintenance and mechanical repairs on cars since I was 13, now 69. Have had one or more Saabs since 1977, at one time there were 7 in the family, presently have 2 9000’s. 9000's seem to be a high quality car with a few exceptions, not so sure about later models.

Strong mechanical aptitude served me well in product development and testing career. Got into instrumentation and electronics because it was the most interesting activity around. Received a couple patents, internal politics sank the best application.

Don't expect to be working on cars forever, will have to buy something locals can service, since there are no Saab dealers or indy's within 50 miles. In some ways it’s the pits living in a small town in far eastern Iowa. Hate the snow, driving in it, the filth and corrosive affects on cars, and piles of the stuff taller than me. Would go south in a minute, but wife does not like to be away from family and her gobs of plants more than a week or two.

Conservative, it’s a real pain to see arrogant elitist politicians blow huge money in irrational ways, undermining and demeaning the public with debt, taxes, and regulation. Our financial advisor can’t believe we save in retirement.

Bought the first Saab to replace a Toronado, and to stay with front wheel drive. They were totally different cars, with the Saab superior in many ways. Detours into other brands were terminated due to poor durability. The Saabnet knowledge base, has made owning Saabs relatively painless.
