XC70 is still being sold. XC70 is a the same wagon as V70, Volvo just slapped a slighly bigger wheels on it and some plastic cladding and called it a crossover. Apparently, most buyers like these features so much that nobody is buying the generic V70 version anymore. So the 9-5 competition is still there.

It is the departure of V50 that makes more room for 9-3 SportCombis. I really liked the V50 styling btw, a friend of mine drives one.
