I've had five Saabs ('87 900S, '88 9000T, '91 9000T, '95 9000CSE, '01 9-5 wagon) and have been pleased as punch at their reliability, except for the automatic belt system in the '87. Can't blame Saab for a stupid idea that was forced upon them. My favorite to drive were the '88 and the '95. The '88 9000T had kind of a refined power about it, as did the '95 CSE. My '91 9000T is a little more like raw power, or was until the turbo gave up the ghost at 207K miles (replacement turbo pending). Think about that - 207K miles. Few other car makers, certainly none of them Japanese, see that kind of reliability.
If Saab's marketing department were smart, which means different from how they've been in the past, they would capitalize on this. They should show a commercial with Saab owners walking around (better yet, having fun driving) with numbers on their shirts, denoting how many miles their Saabs have on them. Provide name, home town, and mileage. Instead, Saab seems bent on cut slogans. They're not by chance using the same ad agencies they've used in the past, are they? If so, that's a problem.
