we should listen to the mechanics. I always try to consult mechanics opinions before buying... John Meyers seems to be very impressed with the new 9-5. He thinks it's a winner, from a "car" perspective. Saab also needs it to be a winner from the "market" perspective... but even if Saab goes bankrupt, it sounds like it would be a nice car to own (if one was in the market for that size car)...

leasing might be a good idea if you want to de-risk... calculate the premium associated with it (lease + residual buy out at the end) vs cash purchase... in the past it was maybe $2-3k premium to filter out a lemon iirc... (I buy used, but found this interesting)... also remember your hard earned cash can be earning you money to offset a good interest rate associated with a lease... might come out better in the end than paying cash now if you are careful...
