There are cost differences in the type and firmness of the foam used, and how it is supported within the seat frame. But they aren't huge.
Anyway, this is a physical issue and varies by individual. I've logged thousands of miles in rented Camrys, Corollas, Priuses, Impalas, Tauruses, Sables, assorted Chrysler products, Fusions, Intrigues, Blazers, Mitsubishis, Buicks, etc. Compared to any of my Saabs over the past 27 years, I know there are real differences.
My comparisons come from doing hours at a time or multiple days, not hour-long runs where the seats don't matter much. In most cars I find myself always adjusting the seat and squirming around trying to find a good position where my back doesn't bother me, my thighs are supported and the padding isn't too soft. The Yotas are all bad--I can't last more than an hour before I want out. Chevy's have generally been terrible.
Tauruses and Sables have generally been OK. The Intrigue, too (drove one from Chicago to NH, another from NYC to Ottawa and then to NH). But few have seats that are as good as Saabs. At least for my anatomy.
