All seats do feel different, but 1100 miles in one day in my 9000 Aero (or my dad's 9-5, or my mom's old 9000S, or either of my brothers' multiple 900s) is an ENTIRELY different story than even 3 hours in my wife's Subaru Outback.
I physically hurt after hours in the Subie. This is true even after days of driving it, when I've had a chance to "get used to it." I started bringing my own lumbar support when I was going to be in the car a long time, despite the fact that the car's seats boasted lumbar support adjustment... who needs lumbar support somewhere north of their kidneys?!? My mother-in-law's Camry (and previously her Corolla) aren't much better. Short (distance and duration) trips rarely reveal a car's seat design merits or drawbacks.
Surely, body type plays a significant role here, but I've complained about many seats, and no one has EVER complained to me about the seats in my Saabs. That's not to say someone out there has a body which disagrees with the seats in a Saab...
Other seats which I find to be comfortable:
BMW sport seats in the e30 3-series (The only BMW I've spent enough time in to have a good feel for... and I've spent a lot of time in them)
Full-size GM trucks/SUVs. I put 900 miles on a Suburban in one day... not a bad seat. Those 900 miles were immediately (no sleeping)
My brother's Audi A6 seats are pretty nice.
All told though, my favorite seats were my 9000 Aero seats. Second place goes to the e30 BMW sport seats (manually adjustable in as many ways as any power Saab seats, but with bolstering to match the Aero, though not for the people of *wider* build).
I agree with someone else on here who said that most people don't pay enough attention to recognize bad seats when they sit in them. Years of Saab seats will make most people pay attention.
