and ended up buying a new Jeep Wrangler of all things. There's an amazing amount of upheaval in the car business these days. There's a horsepower war going on--cars with 500 plus horsepower are a dime a dozen. There's an economy war going on with dozens of cars that get truly incredible mileage, plus hybrids, electrics, and diesels. There's a small car revolution going on with dozens good looking, good driving, affordable cars that get great mileage. Car companies that were renowned for their quality for years have stumbled while companies didn't build very good cars suddenly are making much better ones. As an example Chrysler (which has built spectacularly crappy cars since the 60's) has so improved their quality since Fiat (of all companies) took over they now have several models that Consumer Reports has named "best buy" in their class. GM is actually building a good small car (Cruze)which has been kicking butt against the Corolla. After years of pushing V6's on Saab, their top of the line Buick offers a turbo 4 cylinder as the ONLY engine. BMW is now the "turbo" company (after years of none) and seems to be offering them on everything. So against this topsy-turvy backdrop Saab is going to have to ramp it up pretty significantly if they hope to survive. I am still smitten by the C900 TC and there will be one in my garage before long. And when my lease is up on the Jeep I known I'll be looking for something economical. I hope Saab survives and comes up with something I just have to have.
