Seats can seal the deal for us. My 2006 9-5 wagon and my wife's 2001 XC70 have great seats.
In my experience only upmarket French cars have better seats than Swedish cars, but they no longer are sold here. Having rented one in Norway, either of us would buy a Peugeot 407 wagon in a heartbeat, especially the diesel version.
Last year we put 2500 miles on a rented Maxima in the NW and U.S. and Canadian Rockies. It was a pleasant car, with better ride and handling than my SAAB, but after an hour or two we were stiff and aching when we got out of the car.
