Couldn't agree more with all these posts. The government is a huge cash sucking machine who lives to serve themselves by way of the middle class who have to pay for their free spending and elitist ways. Both local and federal. I was pulled over by a cop last year in my 95 for doing 50 in a 35mph zone. I was on a four lane road in the left lane and there was a junky Chevy Blazer in the right lane trying to pass me. When the cop pulled me over he even acknowledged the Blazer was probably going faster than I was. When I asked him why he pulled me over instead of the Blazer driver he said, "one of you had to be the lucky one." I really wanted to say, "why don't you just be honest officer and say that you pulled me over because I'm driving a Saab and probably more likely to pay the ticket than someone driving a POS Blazer?" I kept my mouth in check and accepted the ticket with a scowl. My attorney took the ticket to court since I was traveling on business on the court date. He was able to get the points reduced by pleading to a defective speedometer charge, but there was no way they would reduce the fine. Just goes to show its all about filling up the local coffers, not improving safety on the street. Yes, I was speeding and I admit it, but where is the justice in letting the person who was probably going faster than I was go on his merry way without having to pay the fine and the increased insurance rates? (If he even had insurance)
