Here's a fun one. Sitting at my kitchen table this evening after eating dinner, doing dishes, enjoying a cold beer, thinking to myself, "damn, I'm awfully drowsy right now." All of a sudden my CO detector starts going off. I went outside and called 911. All kinds of fire trucks and ambulances showed up; they took me to the ambulance to check me out and my blood oxygen content was down to 85%. So I got a pretty quick ride to the ER on oxygen. Got to stick around for a couple hours huffing oxygen getting blood tests and heart monitoring and all that fun stuff. I got out of the house on time so I'm fine now. Fire department shut off my furnaces and water heater.
Anyway, there was ZERO odor, any sign of anything going on. Had I not had a working CO detector I probably would have laid down on the couch and... you know. Even the nurse at the hospital said the first thing she's doing when she gets home is checking her CO detector batteries. Scary stuff!!
