Depending on the source of CO, you can think about where to locate the detectors/monotors. Depending on the magnitude & location of the source, there might have been a higher concentration where you were standing, vs at the location of the sensor.

Kinda makes you think about having more than one in the house. I'm gonna check mine when I get home.

CO density is pretty close to air (about 3% lighter) so maybe it doesn't sink or rise much before it mixes. So maybe locating the detector near the might be more important then high/vs/low location.
