The DTE with Compressed Natural Gas is dismally low Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 3 Mar 2012 11:02:04 In Reply to: Re: Cost less than a dollar a gallon compared to gas., Brian, Sat, 3 Mar 2012 10:26:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I was considering purchasing a used NatGas vehicle a few years ago due to my long commute, high gasoline prices, and availability of NatGas near my home. I was shocked to discover the Distance Till Empty for a full tank of CNG was only 200 miles or so. I could commute only two days before refueling, and the availability of CNG at gasoline staitons is nealry zero.
I find this lack of availability shocking as almost every gasoline station in the northern part of the US is heated by Natural Gas! All they need is a compressor and a high pressure storage tank.
