Such inexpensive devices prevent someone from steeling things without evidence. If a device needs to be physically attacked, you know that theft has occurred or been attempted. Casual theft, workers or acquaintances of kids etc will not tackle a locked container; they do not want the theft to be noticed.
I have high security locks on 3 doors. There are windows that can be broken to gain entry. In my case, a thief would not be able to pick or bump a lock, take items and leave without signs of forcible entry. Also no issues with police or insurance company suggesting that the door was not locked. So while I am a soft target in that regard, a thief hitting random targets will move on to less challenging dwellings.
If the safe cannot be opened at the time of the burglary, they will try to steal the safe and will rip it out of a wall that it is bolted too if they are determined. The only more secure step would be to bolt it to a poured concrete floor or foundation wall. In a case like this, they might need to know in advance that there were high value items.
