what sort of breaker? (arc fault? gfci?)
are there any other things on this circuit? or just the 5 pot lights? what wattage bulbs are you using, and what is the breaker rating? is there a 3 wire switch pair involved?
I know many of those are "dumb questions" but make sure all of that is ok first... eg, a loose connection (that arcs) might trip an arc fault. Too much current draw on a circuit will trip a breaker. Good to mix loads a bit on circuits also... When you do the continuity testing try with/without the run of wire included to weed that out (eg if someone drove a nail through it somewhere - shouldn't happen if conduit was installed to code though)... check for shorts eg between the center of the socket to the case or socket threads to the case etc... with the wire run connected + disconnected...
be very careful to always wire hot to the tip of the bulb not the thread. you don't want to electrocute someone...
apologies if I'm stating the obvious. I'd probably have to see it to help more. good luck!
